Swimming
Swimming is super technical and for people like me who learnt at a late age, we need all the help we can get. The following are swimming resources for multisport athletes.
Swimming Videos for Front Crawl or Freestyle Training and Technique ★★★★
A collection of swimming video from around the internet, including training videos from Total Immersion swimming and video or greats like Popov, Thorpe and Inge de Bruin.
Good stuff for training and visualization of proper technique, and the videos on the TI website are very instructive for newer swimmers.
Swim like a Speedboat, Not a Barge ★★★★
Hmm... The last time I hauled myself out of the pool - many months ago now - I wasn't a barge but the word speedboat isn't exactly what comes to mind either.
This article pulls from the example of an age group athlete who, prior to working on the prescribed drills, generally exited at the back of the pack and exhausted.
The prescription is 30 minutes of drills 3 times a week of some of the old favourites: one arm, catch up, side kick... And then some work to add some speed to the technique.
Total Immersion Swimming ★★★★
So I bought the original book, but it didn't come with a forum or videos; the website does!
The Total Immersion website is pretty chock full of swimming info, so if you are looking for tips, advice, support, a few years of articles in their online magazine and some videos, this is a site to visit.
